What You Believe 🤔🙄
Many people hold fast to their beliefs. Sometimes they do it consciously, and sometimes without even giving much thought to the moment.
You may even hear persons say something like: "I believe in peace", or "I believe in sustainable living." These things aren't based on the teachings of a profit, they don't have their origins tangled up in the written text of scripture, yet there are those whose life disposition is built around a single such tenet.
Followers of Jesus may likewise say that they believe in the teachings of Jesus. but how deep does that really go?
Do we take timeout often enough to consider some of the things that Jesus wanted us to really grasp, learn and master?
The scriptures that God chose to give us teach us that Peter chopping off the ear of the soldier that came to arrest Jesus was not the way to go. From God's Word, we know that a soft answer turns away wrath. We also learn that we should not render evil in exchange for evil, but to instead offer pure, unregretted pardon and forgiveness to those who have wronged us.
Jesus Himself, as He was wrongfully accused and abused and hauled quite literally before the authorities and through the streets for his execution, never once opened his mouth to argue with His accusers, instead, like a sheep to a shearer He chose to remain silent.
It's all well and good to think, determine and declare that we are the servants of God and that we believe in Jesus, which suggests that all He stood for and taught about is included in that... but if we really don't have plans or intention to hold ourselves accountable to strive for the standards that God set, then our efforts will ultimately be frustrated and in vain. Let the life you live for all to see, be what represents clearer than anything else, What You Believe.
