Crazy Stupid 🙃

Do you ever feel like the world seems to be getting crazier and crazier... and also more stupid by the day?

Or is it just that the Internet and social media are making things a lot more visible than we're used to back in the day?

There are some things that you see now that you never would have seen before, from cats getting hit by cars on the regular to some of the more gruesome atrocities that now feature quite prominently and (even more disturbingly) more regularly in the news.

People are doing what seems to be some way out things that are downright difficult to comprehend. (Who still tries to smuggle cocaine via suitcase? 🙄🤷‍♂️)

Here's the truth: We should never underestimate the lure of sin.

Things like greed, lust and self-aggrandizing are powerful motivators to do the unthinkable.

As disturbing as the trends are however, make no mistake that people have been espousing foolishness for as far back as history will take us.  In fact, we have no shortage of questionable decision-making even throughout the length and breadth of the Bible.

Who gives up paradise for the satisfaction of the one forbidden fruit?  Who trades an entire inheritance for a bowl of stew peas?  Who has an entire kingdom, with all its benefits, yet jeopardizes it to commit adultery with the woman across the road and the subsequent murder of her husband?

Then again... are these things far fetched and far from our understanding?  For many of us, we can look on and say, "There go I, but for the grace of God."

Outside of God, the heart of man is lost.  It is lost and desperately wicked.  That says to us that this world is ruled and guided by folly.  the people of God must wake up, step up and stay up.  We must shape up and realize ourselves to be the rulers that we truly are, to lead the lost and dying world... to show them a better way, to show them THE way... even if it seems their behaviour is oftentimes just Crazy Stupid.
